BIO of Thelma May Procunier Croson

Thelma Mae was born May 21, 1904, in Melrose, Idaho, to George Andrew and Frances Ann Stephenson Procunier.  Her parents and brothers Melvin and Norris lived in Canada for twelve years.  While there she won highest prizes and awards out of 40 districts for her gardening and sewing projects.  The family returned to Idaho in 1918.

She married Thomas Ray Croson June 3, 1928 in Troy, Idaho.  They moved to Lewiston, Idaho, in 1930 and Tom's vocation was teaching at first in a rural school, then in public schools and finally at the Normal School which was a teacher's college.  They had two children, Patricia Lee who married C. Frederick Landenberger and moved to Eureka, CA and later to Sacramento, CA and now live in Green Valley, AZ.  Their son, Thomas Elton and his wife Susan Emery Croson continue to live in Seattle.

After the college was closed in 1950 they moved to Seattle, Washington.  Tom was an executive in the airline industry.  Thelma had worked in a yardage department store in Lewiston and continued to follow this line of work in Seattle.

In 1993 Tom was ill and needed skilled nursing care and they moved to Sacramento, CA to be near their daughter and son-in-law.  Thelma lived at the same facility, but in assisted living.  She continued her interest in crafts and at the age of 95 knit 70 caps for disadvantaged children.  She was honored as Resident of the Year for Sacramento in 1997.

On her 100th birthday the entire family gathered for a wonderful celebration which included her children, six grandchildren and her extended family.  She passed away peacefully July 14, 2005, two months after her 101st birthday.
