The Last Will and Testament of Peter Brockunier Sr.

In the name of God Amen: I, Peter Brockunier of Washington County and State of Maryland former, being sick of body but of perfect mind memory and understanding, calling to mind the certainty of death but the uncertainty so the time thereof, make ordain and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following - Imprimis, I direct that all my debts and funeral charges be paid by my Executors hereafter named.

I will and bequeath unto my free sons here named DavidJacob, and Daniel Brockunier all my lands whereon I now live known by the name of "Hagers Long Hickory" containing fifty acres more or less to be to them and their heirs and assigns forever, which land I value to them at Two hundred and eighty pounds current money - my will is and I order that my three sons David, Jacob and Daniel Brockunier, pay to my four daughters here named, to each of them the sum of Forty pounds current money - for their part of the above mentioned that is to say to Margaret Boward or to her heirs the sum of Forty pounds to be paid her within one year after my decease - To Susan Farmer the sum of Forty pounds to be paid within two years after my decease - To Elizabeth Edemiar the sum of Forty pounds to be paid within three years after my decease - To Barbara Rohrer the sum of Forty pounds to be paid within four years after my decease and whereas I have paid to my eldest son Peter Brockunier several sums of money and other things for which he gave me his note and receipts which notes and receipts if found among my papers are to be given up to him - and my will is and I order that my son DavidJacob and Daniel pay to my son Peter the sum of Five pounds current money within one year after my decease, this sum to be in full for his part of shear of my estate both real and personal and whereas I have paid to my son Henry several sums of money and other things for which he gave me his notes and receipts which notes and receipts if found among my papers is to be given up to him - and I order that my sons DavidJacob and Daniel pay to my son Henry the sum of Five pounds current money within one year after my deceased - this sum is to be in full for his part of shear of my estate of both real and personal - the residue and remainder of my estate to be divided among my children here named to Viz: David, Jacob, Daniel, Margaret, Susanna, Elizabeth and Barbara to each of them shear and shear alike - and whereas it may so happen that disputes may arise about the legal title of my land or it may so happen that part of my land may be lost in case it should so happen - my will is that each of my children bear an equal proportion of the loss to their respective sums they may be entitled by this my will to receive.

Lastly I constitute and appoint my sons David, Jacob Brockunier as sole Executors of this my last will and testament with full power to them or the survivors of them to settle all contracts by me here to fore made to give lawful deed of conveyance to settle any other contract my be made give any instrument of writing if necessary as well as I could do were I living. I hereby declare this to be my last will and testament. I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and four.

On this 18th day of November 1804 came David and Jacob Brockunier Executors named in the aforegoing will and made oath that the aforegoing is the true and whole will of Peter Brockunier that has come to their hands and possession and that they do not know of any other.

In Testimony Whereof, I hereby subscribe my name end affix my Seal of said Court and office, this 20th day of December, in the year of our lord, nineteen hundred sixty six.
